If you can keep your head when all about you.

જો તમારા પર તમે કાબુ રાખી શકતા હો
કે જ્યારે બધા જ તમારા સંદર્ભે મગજ ગુમાવતા હોય
અને તમારા પર આળ ચડાવતા હોય.

જો
તમે તમારી જાત પર વિશ્વાસ રાખી શકતા હો
કે જ્યારે બધા જ તમારા વિશે શંકાશીલ હોય
અને પોતાની શંકાને વ્યાજબી ઠેરવતા હોય.
જો
તમે રાહ જોઇ શકો
અને કઇં લખતા કંટાળો નહી
કે તમને ખોટા ઠેરવવામાં આવતા હોય છતાં
ખોટું કરો નહી
કે
ધિક્કારાતા હોવા છતાં ધિકકારને માર્ગ ન આપો
અને તમે બહુ સારા દેખાવ નહી
કે સુફીયાણી વાતો ન કરો¸

જો
તમે સ્વપ્ન જોઇ શકો
અને સ્વપ્નને તમારા સ્વામી નહી બનાવો.
જો
તમે વિજયશ્રી કે વિનાશને પામો
અને તે બન્ને છલનાઓને સમાન ગણો.
જો
તમે તમારા દ્વારા બોલાયેલા સત્યને
મુર્ખાઓને સાંણસામાં લેવા માટે
લુચ્ચાઓ દ્વારા અડપાયા છતાં
તમે સાંભળી શકતાં હો
કે
તમે જે વસ્તુને તોડવા મન મનાવી લીધું હોય
અને પછી
ઊભા રહી જે સાધનો અંગે ચેતવણી અપાયેલ હોય
તેના વડે જ જોડતા હો.

જો
તમે બધી જીતેલી વસ્તુઓનો ઢગ કરી
કોઇ એવા વળાંકે
તેને ઉછાળી દેવાનું જોખમ લઇ શકો
અને ફરીથી શરૂઆત કરો
છતાં કઇં ગુમાવ્યા અંગે
એક હરફ પણ ન ઉચ્ચારો.
જો
તમારા હ્રદય, જ્ઞાનતંતુઓ અને સ્નાયુઓએ
સત્વ ગુમાવ્યા છતાં
તમે તેને તમારી લાંબી સેવામાં
રોકાઇ રહેવા દબાણ કરો
અને
તેમ કરી શકવા માટે
તમારામાં કઇં જ ન હોય
સિવાય કે તમારૂં આત્મબળ
કે જે '' રોકાઇ રહો '' તેમ કહેતું હોય.
જો
તમે ટોળા સાથે વાત કરી શકો
અને તમારા સિધ્ધાંતને જાળવી શકો
કે
પદશાહો સાથે ચાલો
અને સામાન્યપણું ન ગુમાવો.

જો
શત્રુઓ કે જીવીત મિત્રો
તમને હાનિ પહોંચાડી શકે નહી.
જો
બધા જ પોતાને તમારી સાથે ગણે
છતાં વધારે કોઇ જ નહી.
જો
તમે અવિસ્મરણીય ઘડીઓનો
લાંબી દોડની સાંઠ સેકંડમાં
અહેસાસ કરી શકતા હો.

તો
આ બ્રહ્માંડ અને તેમાં રહેલ સર્વસ્વ તમારૂં છે
અને તેથી પણ વધુ
મારા પુત્ર ! તું માણસ હોઇશ.
